Can you make a car key if I lost the only one?
Yes. Using your vehicle identification number and proof of ownership we cut and program a new key without the original, at your location.
Do I need to go to the dealership for a replacement key?
For most makes and years, no. A mobile car key locksmith cuts and programs the key where the car is, so the car does not have to be towed to a dealer.
How long does a car key replacement take?
Most replacements take about 15 to 30 minutes on site once we arrive, depending on the key type and the programming the car requires.
What does a car key replacement cost in Toronto?
It depends on the make, model, year and key type (metal, transponder, flip key, smart key). Call with those details and you get a free estimate on the phone before we drive out.
Can you program a key fob or a push-to-start smart key?
Yes. We program most remotes, key fobs and proximity smart keys, and we can reprogram an existing fob that stopped working.
Can you reprogram a used key from another car?
Sometimes. It depends on the make and model; some vehicles accept a used key, others only a new one. Tell us the car and we will tell you before you buy anything.
My key snapped in the ignition. What now?
Do not force it. Call us: we extract the broken piece, check the ignition, and cut a new key on the spot.

What types of car keys can you make?
Traditional metal keys, transponder (chip) keys, flip keys, remote head keys, key fobs and push-to-start smart keys for most makes and model years.
Can you cut a key by code?
Yes. With the key code from the manufacturer or read from the lock we cut an original-spec key rather than copying a worn one.
What is the difference between a duplicate and a replacement key?
A duplicate is copied from a key you still have. A replacement is generated without any original, from the vehicle data, and usually needs programming as well as cutting.
Can you make keys for older or classic cars?
Yes. Older vehicles without transponders are straightforward; we cut from the code or the lock.
Do you replace motorcycle keys?
Yes, including transponder-equipped motorcycles.
My key is stuck in the door lock. What should I do?
Do not force or twist it. Call us; we free the key, check the cylinder and repair it if it is what caused the jam.
How do I avoid another lockout?
Get a spare key or fob cut while you still have a working one and keep it somewhere that is not the car.

Should I rekey or change the locks after moving in?
If the hardware is in good shape, rekeying gives you new keys and makes every old copy useless for less than new locks. If the locks are worn or low grade, changing them is the better spend. We tell you which on site.
Can you open my door without damaging it?
Yes. Home lockouts are opened with entry tools, not force. If a lock has to be drilled because it failed internally, we say so first and replace it in the same visit.
Can you set up one key for the whole building?
Yes. A master key system gives the owner one key for every door while each tenant or staff member keeps a key that opens only theirs.
